Abstract:
At European Union level, the concerns related to human rights regulation are quite recent. The European Convention is a regional legal instrument for respecting human rights. It is also the qualitative synthesis of the international norms in the field, and its sources of inspiration were, in particular, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenants on Human Rights. The Fundamental Charter of Human Rights is a regional legal instrument on human rights, which includes for the first time in the history of the European Union the ensemble of civil, political, economic and social rights of the citizens of the Member States of the European Union. The text of the Charter includes a preamble and six titles on: dignity, liberties, equality, solidarity, citizens' rights and justice.
